Layton originally constructed the University of Utah Hospital’s 3-story parking garage and helicopter port then later performed a 2-story vertical expansion.

The structure uses a post-tensioned, un-bonded system. The top level has landing space and light servicing, including fueling station for three AirMed helicopters.

Hospital operations were maintained all while the parking structure expansion took place while an adjacent patient tower was also vertically expanded and a new 8-story patient tower was being constructed.
