This project added two separate mezzanines into an existing 300,000 SF building and bulk storage for raw materials. A rail spur and two truck off-load stations were constructed for raw material to be pumped into a newly constructed bulk storage space. The project includes a retail area, corporate training and board rooms, warehouse/distribution, offices, lab area, and manufacturing.
The manufacturing area is unique as the new mezzanine was built around some of the largest tanks while the remainders of the tanks are suspended from the mezzanine.

Layton used Prefabrication and BIM on the Dunn-Edwards project to reduce schedule and cost while eliminating conflicts early in the design process.

During construction, once the mezzanine and tanks were installed, the prefabricated piping was brought to the site and installed in sections. This greatly reduced the project’s timeline. Additionally, with all elements drawn three-dimensionally, all conflicts were resolved during design before any fabrication took place.
