Brigham Young University-Hawaii Student Housing
Layton worked diligently on the student housing project at Brigham Young University Hawaii for a year before construction began. Preconstruction involved the design team and Layton working to control the budget and ensure that the project met the owner’s budget, schedule and quality goals.
The project consisted of three single-student dormitory units and one single-student apartment building. The buildings replaced existing single-student housing and provide an apartment-style option for students living on-campus.
Layton’s proactive approach to labor, long procurement processes and working in tropical weather minimized risks and created a collaborative process between all team members.
