Layton constructed the new soccer-specific stadium for Real Salt Lake, Utah’s Major League Soccer team, as a joint-venture project. The venue seats 20,000 fans and opened in 2008.
The project included the placement of 35,000 cubic yards of concrete, enough to build the footings and foundations of 450 average homes, and the placement of 720 tons of steel, more than half of which was placed in the west stadium structure due to the site layout and elevations.
The stadium structure includes:
- Field Level – Locker rooms and utility services
- Second Level – Support offices and suites
- Third Level – Suites
- Fourth Level – Press lounge, camera stations, announcers’ studios and mechanical space
The new stadium was built with flexibility to host outdoor concerts and other events.
